Collaborative Innovation: Escape Velocity

CII October Webinar Series.jpg

What holds us down from becoming collaborative?

Could it be that our very self-centered realities are the chains that bind us?

As human beings, we have been designed for self preservation and much of our thinking and behavior must support this purpose. The very essence of our being is trapped by the gravity of our self-interests. But what if we could break free from this Force? As with all of the Universe’s Gravitational Fields, there is an Escape Velocity, which once achieved, breaks anything free from the bonds of that Force. On earth, it is Mach 25 and systems which achieve this velocity and energy become free.

While traveling to space in a hypersonic vehicle have allowed some astronauts to experience an Overview Effect which has freed their mind to think globally, how can we all achieve this? There is an Escape Velocity for anyone who wants to be free from the bondage of self-interest and become collaborative and universal. But it requires Energy, Mutuality, Adaptability, Curiosity, Openness and Learning. In our research of Collaborative Innovation, we have discovered principles and practices in each of these areas that allow human beings to achieve that Escape Velocity, experience the Overview Effect and become Collaborative Innovators.

It opens the door to redefining or re-inventing what it means to be human.
